Matt Cutts: Yahoo done stole us first!

Last evening, TechCrunch (and others) reported that Google had apparently "lifted" or stole the Yahoo! Internet Explorer 7 promo page. Robert Scoble has a good overview of the situation.
This morning, Matt Cutts, Google employee, posted a very agressive article discussing who stole which content first. He lines up ad format after ad format showing that Google came first.
The truth is that people have been stealing content since the Internet began. In fact, just today, I call out HotEnough.org because it appears they stole Match.com's privacy policy and terms.
Are we at the beginning stages of SearchMania I? Might be a fun bracket to setup. That Jeeves (oh wait he was fired) really packs a mean right uppercut!
Financial ticker: Google shares flat, Yahoo! up 2.5% this morning. Guess investors like that Yahoo! makes their own code... oh wait... see image below.

and Yahoo could say who was in the search business first and show screen shots of search results...
I think they handled it wrong and should just said it was it was which was google taking the mike out of IE7 and Yahoo.
Darren - I thought about saying Google stole the search engine from Yahoo but didn't want to go down that road. When you do something wrong, the easiest thing to do is try to move the focus to something else, something Cutts did pretty well.
yeah he did it ok but lets face it coping in media has been around for years. Newspapers have been ripping each others designs off since the beginning and have you ever wondered why all the classified adverts look the same...
